Symmetry and Balance takes pride in offering a wide variety of massage modalities and techniques in order to provide the most comprehensive healing experience for our clients. Our Customized Massage is just that - a completely individualized massage therapy experience tailored specifically to each of our client's individual needs.

When you arrive for your Customized Massage session, your therapist will discuss any current issues or concerns to address during your massage, as well as receive consent for any modalities they may use once they have begun the session. Each of our therapists carry multiple specialty trainings & certifications that include Gua Sha, cupping, therapeutic hot towels, hot & cold stones, aromatherapy, trigger point therapy, Thai massage, lymphatic massage, Lomi Lomi Hawaiian massage and massage for mental health. Once the session begins, your therapist will determine which modalities will be most beneficial for your session, blending them seamlessly into both a relaxing and truly therapeutic experience.
But what about Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage is a technique primarily used to address known musculoskeletal problems, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying continuous pressure through slow, deep strokes to reach the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. This approach aids in breaking down scar tissue that develops after an injury and alleviates tension in muscles and tissues associated with those injuries. Additionally, it can enhance the speed of healing by boosting blood circulation and decreasing inflammation. This style of massage is the one to choose if you know that your body requires deep pressure and the sensation of moderate pain to release muscle tension.
Does Symmetry and Balance offer Deep Tissue Massages?
Yes! However, it is important to note that not every client is a candidate for deep tissue massage. In the same way, a client who had a deep tissue massage at one session may not benefit from deep tissue techniques at their next session. This determination is based on your discussion with your therapist before your session, as well as during your therapist's full-body evaluation at the start of your session. Performing deep tissue techniques when there is not a specific, focused need for them can actually be detrimental to healing and even lead to worsening pain. It is for this reason that your therapist may not perform deep tissue massage, even if that is the specific massage you requested. However, you can rest assured that the therapeutic massage your receive will be exactly what your body needs EACH and EVERY session.
Why does Deep Tissue Massage cost more than a Customized Massage?
In order to perform deep tissue therapeutically, your therapist has dedicated themselves to rigorous trainings, gaining extensive knowledge on how to target and treat injuries and problem-areas. Additionally, the required intensity and continued pressure required by your therapist for a deep tissue massage places significantly increased physical strain on their body. It is for these reasons that there is an additional cost for deep tissue massage.
